The concept for Vapor City came about through a series of vivid, recurring dreams Stewart had about a fictional city. Each track on the album is meant to explore and define a different district or neighborhood within this world. Vapor City is Machinedrum's follow up to the highly touted Planet Mu release, Rooms. To that end, the only sin of Vapor City is that it followed Rooms, and wasn't an aesthetic copy, when released on Ninja Tune. Machinedrum didn't completely abandon his work started on Rooms. He, however, expanded out and took risks that few, if any, would have taken. It takes a few notable risks in composition and rhythmic style, but as is evident from the title, this isn't the new Machinedrum album. Read full review. Vapor City. Released 2013.
