A special early promo: La Marea is 2:36 versus 2:16 on the retail and other promo cd's. Same for Infinita Tristeza which is 5:13 versus 3:56

This one comes in a cardsleeve and is a factory pressed CD. Not to be confused with the US release which is a CDr coming in a jewel case with low quality inkjet printed artwork.

Clandestino, Manu Chao's first solo effort, owed its greatness to its character. It was a minimalistic, yet filled with experimentation, album. But, what's most distinctive, it was honest, direct, intimate: the personal diary of someone who had traveled a lot, not only around Latin America but through life. Unfortunately, Chao seems to lose his way a little bit in Esperanza. Apparently intended to be a continuation of what started in Clandestino, it ends being just a clone of it. The reiteration of ideas and formulas takes away from Esperanza everything that made of Clandestino a mem. Album 2001 17 Songs. It was released in Europe in 2001. Reading the news section on Manu Chao's website, you have to wonder whether you're looking at an artist's updates or some sort of multi-lingual, alternate reality CNN ticker. In between items about tour and festival dates, written in a mix of French, Spanish, Italian, German, and English, there are updates on the Saharawi independence movement in Western Sahara, Colombia's FARC rebels, and other causes and interests of the singer. This is only fitting for a musician who makes left-wing politics the lyrical centerpiece of his relentlessly globalist music and happens to be go. It is a master work of conception and social observation. He sings in at least 4 different languages and often in the same song. But there are like 6 languages spoken through the album. Only missing German And Dutch. He traveled the world with a nylon guitar and a micro recorder, and did location recordings and put them in many places in and between songs. Band Name Manu Chao.
