This soundtrack to the Jim Jarmusch film Dead Man is entirely instrumental, with the exception of some poetry read by Johnny Depp who stars in the film and a bit of dialogue. Seems to be back in stock. Elusive is supposedly just shipped my backordered copy.

Any of you own the original release? I’m just curious how it compares, sound wise. If it’s just as good, I’d probably sell my OG copy. Too many folks got ripped off with bootlegs so it could make someone’s day. Thanks in advance for any feedback.

I appreciate that info. Now to find it in the U.S. for a reasonable price...

My friend does and we made a comparison on his fancy equipment. Luckily for me who ordered this repress, it is as good! :-) Never heard the bootleg.

Great soundtrack. Great press and listen. I got this at my local record store in US. They had 2 copies left after I bought mine.

Unfortunately, there was NO European pressing and it looks like it wasn't that many printed because it's OUT OF STOCK everywhere !!!I've got one, most probably as it was pre-ordered, but I've find it's a shame for all the others trying to score one. But, hey, it's a Neil Young label and do you know what he DID when playing in Amsterdam:NOBODY in the ( paying ) audience was allowed to drink beer, thanks to mr. Young himself. And then, what did he ? Just came onstage and opened a bottle of beer !Talking about hypochrisy...

Just managed to get a copy here in the UK via Amazon

these were pressed in Europe. it like a lot of releases was likely sold there too but it sold out so

Does anyone know if there is just a US version for this repress (as currently here on discogs) or if there is a separate European pressing as well? Thank you!

This repress is about as solid as they come. As the music is quiet and subtle, it absolutely demands the vinyl be pressed very precisely -- the sound does not disappoint. The records play very quietly, and I have experienced no clicking/popping throughout two play-throughs. Like the previous reviewer mentioned, the records do have some marks right out of the gate due to the old school printed inner sleeves, but the marks are completely surface-level only. These kinds of markings are common anyway, and you would just expect them back in the days where paper inners were the norm. I do feel it's worth mentioning that the mastering is from a 44/24 digital source (it states this on the back of the jacket).

oh man, when i unwrapped this item and carefully slid the records out of their paper sleeves there was paper chaf everywhere; scuffs from rubbing heavily on the paper sleeves (both inner sleeves are of the type, for easy removal, one side is a quarter inch shorter than the back side - exposing the lead-in edge to rubbing/scuffing the edges during transit to our shelves and tons of hairlines on all four sides. tons of hairlines. both spindle holes were to small and the label on the c-side was/is indented abnormal. so putting this on our rcm was a lowered expectation anticipating the listening session. optimism regaled me in brief as both lps were flat. amazingly the listening experience was stellar with the only complaint being noise in the dead wax on lp1 both sides but thankfully not in the music. this releases' sound quality couldn't be better... but the vinyl condition could be (poly-liners would have been best)

So glad to finally have this on wax, been a holy grail for me, put a pin in that. As far as quality, I couldn’t be happier ????

Is this out of print already? Nobody seems to have it in stock. Hope there's a repress coming ASAP.

Oh, actually it is still available on Neil's store right now. Get it there instead if you haven't gotten it yet.

Yeah, I was referring to the repress...all the stores I check seem to be out of it, as is Amazon.

This is the repress! I'd recommend scooping up one of the two copies on here while you still can.

One word: MAGNIFICENT !If someone does not like this one, then I do really don't know...But...it's not everybody's cup of tea, if you know what I mean.6 stars ( ****** ) from me, anyway...

anybody have any comments on the sound quality? ten words

Quite good. Quiet vinyl and excellent mastering. At least my copy. Ooops, 11 words...

Thank you I appreciate your response! Just re-watched the film the other day and can't wait to listen to some wax

Excellent? Neil Young would lose his shit if it wasn't proper. He doesn't allow for anything sub par. While not an analog source (which doesn't matter to me), it's high res digital and properly EQ'ed and cut for vinyl by Chris Bellman and pressed at Record Industry. It is silent and has all the depth and details you would expect.

OMG YES! It is about time for a reissue of this great soundtrack. Prices for an original are beyond outrageous. Thank you for repressing this.
