Twenty-five years after the release of Rick Wakeman's groundbreaking Journey to the Centre of the Earth album, a sequel entitled Return to the Centre of the Earth was released, this time including a who's who of musicians and vocalists. Still employing the London Symphony Orchestra to accompany his plethora of keyboards, Wakeman uses Patrick Stewart of Star Trek: The Next Generation fame to narrate the story and former Yes guitarist Trevor Rabin for some spicy solos. Journey to the Centre of the Earth album. Journey to the Centre of the Earth is the third album by English keyboardist Rick Wakeman, released on 3 May 1974 by A&M Records. It is a live recording of the second of his two concerts at the Royal Festival Hall on 18 January 1974, the premiere of his 40-minute orchestral rock piece based on Jules Verne's 1864 science fiction novel of the same name. It tells the story of Professor Lidinbrook, his nephew Axel, and their guide Hans. Rick Wakeman -The Return Overture. Rick Wakeman -The Shepherd. Rick Wakeman, in this sequel to Journey To The Centre Of The Earth, makes the album that the original should have been. He hired a top notch narrator Patrick Stewart, and singers that were up to the task of the material Ozzy Osbourne, Justin Heyward and Bonnie Tyler. Wakeman also performs Return To The Centre Of The Earth with the London Symphony Orchestra and the English Chamber Choir, beyond a handful of musicians and singers, The Dream Team as he called it. Despite Return To The Centre Of The Earth be a sequel of Journey To The Centre Of The Earth, it doesn't completely follow the same structure of it.
