Dreamtime Return 1988 is a double album by the American ambient musician Steve Roach, based on Australian Aboriginal culture and the concept of the Dreamtime. Described as one of the pivotal works of ambient music and groundbreaking, the album has been included on a number of lists of the world's best music, including 1,000 Recordings to Hear Before You Die. As the concept of fourth world music was inaugurated by Jon Hassell and indigenous music was embraced by the record industry, Steve Roach was visiting Australia, gathering the sonic food he needed to cook up this incomparable recording. With this double-disc set containing over two hours of music, Roach reached a plateau both in his musical evolution and within the genre that has yet to be eclipsed. Tracks 1-8 and 2-2 are exclusive to the CD version, and 2-1 is extended. Dreamtime Return's effortless fusion of tribal and electronic instrumentation is ageless and doesn't sound at all dated, even on the neo-Berlin-School opener, Toward the Dream, which gives me excited chills to this day. Each track blends seamlessly into the next and though this album is epic to say the least, it never becomes boring, static, or saccharine

For those who have this copy, how is the pressing?

My copy sounds perfect from start to finish. I would suggest a little cleaning for anyone that says this has clicks/pops. My record did come fairly dirty, but after a brief cleaning it sounded amazing. I can’t recommend this album enough!

Same with me. The popping is only on side 2.

mine has loud popping noises in record 2. Rest sounds ok
